Overview

Key Stage 3: Year 7 and 8

All students in year 7 and 8 follow a broad and balanced curriculum which covers the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science, but which also includes a wide range of other subjects so that our students develop a diverse range of interests and passions, with a real thirst for knowledge. We offer the following subjects to our year 7 and 8 students:

  • Art
  • Dance
  • Design and Technology
  • Geography
  • History
  • ICT
  • Modern Foreign Languages
  • Music
  • Physical Education
  • Religious Education

Given that our curriculum is tailored to meet the individual needs of every child, students’ personalised programmes of study may have an emphasis on essential skills in English and Mathematics. This may be delivered through our Curriculum Support lessons, Form Time and Accelerated Reader and Lexia sessions.

In order to accelerate the progress of every child, our key stage 3 curriculum is condensed into two years. Our students have the opportunity to choose their options at the end of year 8, and their GCSE courses start in year 9. This allows our students three years to cover the key GCSE content, allowing them to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Key Stage 4: Year 9, 10, and 11

Students in years 9, 10 and 11 study the compulsory core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science. They also have non-examined Physical Education and Computing. Alongside these, students have the opportunity to choose option subjects, which includes the range covered at Key Stage 3, as well as new subjects:

  • Arabic
  • Art
  • Business Studies
  • Citizenship
  • Design Technology
  • Drama
  • Hospitality and Catering
  • Geography
  • History
  • ICT
  • Music
  • Physical Education
  • Religious Education
  • Spanish

Through all year groups, our curriculum provides a rich spiritual, moral, social and cultural education for our students, whilst also promoting British values through our core values of collaboration, opportunity, respect and excellence. This holistic approach to educating well-rounded, responsible citizens supports our personalised curriculum that allows students to be supported and challenged appropriately. We offer Curriculum Support lessons to those students who need to consolidate their knowledge and our brightest students will have the opportunity to take as many as 10 GCSEs or equivalent.
