On Monday 13th March, our Year 9s left Birmingham and spent their day at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London. Arriving just after midday, students were privileged enough to watch one of his plays, The Taming of the Shrew, which was brought to life with familiar songs to bring it up to date.
Mr Lewis was ever so proud of the behaviour of our students and explained that this trip was a fantastic opportunity for our students to take part in engaging learning activities, which helped unlock Shakespeare’s themes, characters and stories, inspired by the unique setting of The Globe.
Students found Shakespeare’s life and works come alive right before their eyes through exploration of his theatre and the skills of the staff who worked there. All in all, it was a fantastic day for all and we can not wait to take another year group next time!
