“After studying I love getting out of the classroom and pushing myself to the limit in other ways.”  Ismail, Rockwood student

Getting involved isn’t just about going to lessons. Rockwood offers an extensive range of student opportunities through various clubs and societies.

We have a number of clubs and activities on offer:

  • musical, Choir club, Karaoke club, Keyboard club and Djembe club
  • sports, Table-tennis, Basketball, Tennis, Football, Cricket, Netball, Martial Arts, Skiing, and Swimming
  • creative, Craft club, Art club and Drama club
  • cerebral: Science Club, Solving Puzzles, Playing logic games, Chess and Scrabble.

We hope that you will join at least two clubs or societies to make new friends and learn new skills.

CCFThe Cadet Force offers young people a broad range of challenging, exciting, adventurous and educational activities. Our aim is to enable the development of personal responsibility, leadership and self-discipline.

DofE: The award scheme is offered to year 9 and above. It has inspired and transformed the lives of young people from all walks of life. From volunteering to physical activities, life skills to expeditions, achieving a DofE Award is a passport to a brighter future, valued by employers and universities.

Enrichment: Learning outside the classroom, which includes educational visits, is also a big part of our Academy experience. Good memories from these activities and experiences can stay with you for life. This year the school has a wide range of activities ranging from martial arts to karaoke club offered to every year group. These are on offer throughout the week during lunch times and after school. The activities are delivered by Academy staff and partnerships with external agencies.

LTAThe Lawn Tennis Association partnership has offered our students the access to tennis within a community who traditionally does not access tennis.  Through the promotion of tennis, students have broaden their experiences socially and culturally as well as becoming physically active.

The tennis programme is delivered through the main curriculum and as an enrichment activity across all year groups and has generated an energy and enthusiasm for tennis.

Tennis is a fantastic vehicle to support the values of the Academy such as Collaboration, Opportunity, Respect and Excellence. With this in mind we have also used tennis a vehicle to support the collaboration and active session for both the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and the Cadet Platoon that we deliver here in the Academy.
